Winter may not be everyone’s favourite season, but the cold, biting temperatures are a great reason to stay inside and read. In the past two weeks, I had the honour of attending two book clubs-one in Lawrence Park in the evening, the other in the afternoon in Scarborough.

In the warmth of both homes, accompanied by tasty treats and hot beverages, we discussed themes of gender, justice, domestic violence and our roles and responsibilities as change makers in today’s complex society. As we examined the moral dilemmas faced by each character in The Dime Box, the conversation ignited. It was so much fun!

Many questions also arose about the craft of writing, character development and the writing process itself. Although each author has their own preferences, routines and ways of managing what they do, I’m always happy to share my experiences.

As a writer, it’s such a joy to meet readers and engage alongside them. I learn so much from everyone and am deeply grateful for the stories they share with me. Thank you to both book clubs for choosing The Dime Box as your February novel.
